What Do Volunteers At St. Columba Do?
St. Columba is a place where all people are made welcome and put at ease. Our staff and volunteers are able to work with people from a variety of backgrounds who are facing a variety of challenges in their lives.
Day Center
Volunteers monitor the room where clients come and go. They distribute sandwiches, coffee cups and other food, maintain the shower list and hand out towels, soap and other toiletries. They answer questions, converse with and listen to the clients. Volunteers are needed in this position during the hours that the Day Center is open: Monday through Thursday 9:00 AM to at least noon. We prefer volunteers select a day of the week and commit to coming on most of those days to allow for continuity of services.
Off-site Opportunities
If you or your group are interested in activities that can support our work, please visit our Group Involvement page to learn more about this opportunity. If you are looking for a way to help those in need, we are looking for you! Just a few hours a week can make a difference.
Our volunteers will be provided with the information they need to perform the duties required through a brief training and orientation session. Please, call Alicia at 757-627-6748 if you are interested.
